SUN SHINES NON STOP

Sorry for not having updated my blog for some time.. I have been busy enjoying myself (and working).. It has been so warm during the past week, actually the whole time I've been here.

During my two-month stay it has been sunny and warm most of the time..If I was riding home from work in hot weather in Finland I would be mad knowing that I had just missed a beautiful summer day. Here it is ok because the sun will shine again tomorrow.. or at least the day after!

I love Adelaide! It is not too big (here many locals would be nodding and going: definetly not! They all seem to think Adelaide is not big or something enough) but the town is not too small either! There are so many things you can find from here:

Nice city centre with cool shops

Keskusta on taynna kivoja kauppoja, joista osaa en ole viela edes ehtinyt katsastaa.. osaksi siita syysta, etta kaupat sulkevat viikolla jo viidelta iltapaivalla, jolloin olen viela toissa.. Taalla tyopaiva alkaa yleensa yhdeksalta ja paattyy viidelta iltapaivalla.

The central markets and China town are full of yammy stuff !

Taalta loytyy mm. myos ihana kreikkalainen jogurtti-kauppa..

These pics are from North Terrace where Im working. Not a bad place to work really. I often have my lunch breaks here!

State Library

Tassa kuvia North Terrace-kadulta, jossa olen toissa. Loistava lounastauko-paikka!

Dave and Nicky came over from Brisbane. We were touring around Adelaide a bit and enjoying the hot weather, which got up to 40'c on saturday..

Glenelg

It's the festival season in Adelaide and with the Festivals you have weird and cool happenings all over the place. These dudes are an example of that..

Nice warm afternoon in the Botanical gardens..
Viikonloppuna oli todella lamminta, jopa 40 astetta! Nickyn ja Daven ansiosta tuli seikkailtua ympari Adelaidea ja seurattua hieman taidefestivaali-tapahtumia..

Our house has been surrounded by weird creatures lately..

First..
This fellow rocked up at our doorstep one hot sunday afternoon: A Yabbie! Not the most ordinary creature to bump into, especially when there is no water in sight.. It chose the right doorstep since we were kind enough not to eat it (as many do). Instead we had an Operation Free-Yabbie ! It looked very pleased when it toddled back to a creek -backwards of course.

Tama kaveri ilmestyi ovellemme eraana paivana.

Then..
Andrew thought we wouldn't have possums around here but he was wrong as we found this cutie in our orange tree one night...

Tama sopolainen rapisteli appelsiinipuussamme. Opossumi siis! Yritimme syottaa sille omenaa, mutta eipa kelvannut..

And last but not least:
A skinny ginger cat has been surrounding our house during my stay here. We named the cat "criminal" because of it looked very suspicious.. And last weekend we found out why: It had four cute little kittens hidden between our house and a fence! We think the fluff balls are about three weeks old now.. Should ring RSPCA or something (an animal organisation) to take care of them and give them up for adoption. We sure can't take care of five cats! But gosh they are cute...

LAST PICS OF YORKE PENINSULA

That black dot there is Andrew body surfing. So much fun!

Tarkkaan kun katsoo, nakee Andrewn bodysurfaamassa (eli aallon vietavana ilman surffilautaa).

This is the most perfect lagoon..

Pelikaanit loytaneet oivan hengailupaikan.

What a good spot to hang out!

Tama kuva on ehdottomasti lemppari matkalla otetuista kuvista! Vapaana kulkeva koira odotti omistajaansa niin ihanan uskollisesti..

This is my absolute favourite of all the pics I took. There was just something sweet about that dog who was loyally waiting for his owner.

A big family of Emus crossing the road. The mummy (or daddy who knows) almost poked its head in our car window and was staring at us funny with its spooky red eyes. We managed to see heaps of these fellows during our stay!

Emu-perhe osui tielle. Naita otuksia nakyi monen puskan takana koikkelehtimassa..

Here we saw a cool seal cathing fish for lunch and playing with what he had caught as if showing off for us a little bit. (the seal dived off the picture)

Tassa kohdalla bongasimme hylkeen ensin saalistamassa ja sitten leikkimassa ruoallaan oikein esitellakseen isoa kalaansa. (Itse hylje oli ujo kameralle)

Yep.. Im sure some the original Dubliners wouldn't mind migrating here.. This Dublin is a village of about 60 people..wowsies!

Kylla, tieviitta nayttaa aivan oikein.

Dolphin bay. ah! Little piece of paradise just there!

Andrew could not resist.. But man, there is no better way to cool down in a boiling hot day like this!

+38 is quite hot for a northern lass especially if there is no shades in sight. We tryed to escape the heat by swimming of course..but also by getting some yammy fish & chips from the local deli and enjoying their airconditioner.

We also tryed to protect ourselves with clothes and towels in order to be able to enjoy the beach and avoid getting sunburned.

West Cape
Andrew gazing at the sea thinking if the surf would be picking up.
This is usually a good surf spot but during our stay it stayed pretty flat...

West Cape on tunnetty hyvista surffauskelpoisista aalloistaan. Talla kertaa aallot olivat kuitenkin hieman liian pienia...

...However, we had heaps of fun playing in the waves and bathing in this paradise-like little "lagoon". The sun had warmed it up and the water was, once again, super clear. And no one else around!

Even without our snorkeling equipment we were able to see some underwater life. Here a nice starfish.

Myos ilman snorklaus-valineita, naimme kaikenlaisia merenelavia, kuten taman meritahden.

From our camping area, Pondalowie Beach. We saw a cool stingray here swimming just a few meters away from us.

Pondalowie-ranta, jonka vieressa oli leirinta-alue, jossa telttailimme. Onnistuimme nakemaan rouskun, joka uiskenteli ihan muutaman metrin paassa meista.

This is the best beach at Innes National park: Dolphin bay. White sand and clear aqua-blue water.. what more can you dream of!

Tassa Innesin kansallispuiston parhaalta rannalta: Dolphin Bay:lta.

WELCOME TO YORKE PENINSULA!

Andrew and I decided to cruise to some place else for a change and head down to Innes National park for few days. During our stay we saw kangaroos, emus, a seal, fish, a stingray, starfish, lizzards and other awsome creatures.

Suuntasimme Andrewn kanssa Innesin kansallispuistoon, Yorken niemimaalle (Adelaidesta n.400 km lanteen) muutamaksi paivaksi. Naimme kaikenlaisia mielenkiintoisia otuksia, kuten kenguruita, emuja, hylkeen ja joukon merenelavian (mm. mainion rouskun!)

This was the first magnificent view from south of Yorke Peninsula in Innes National Park.. and it was just the beginning!

Ensimmainen upea nakoala Yorken niemimaan etelakarjesta, Innesin kansallispuistosta. Maisemat vain paranivat mita lahemmaksi paastiin!

Chinaman's beach was the first beach we went to and I went totally bananas. It was so warm and nice! Even the fact that this is one of the sharkiest places in the whole world did not bother me.

Chinaman's beach oli ensimmainen ranta, jossa uitiin. Menin aivan sekaisin upeasta merivedesta ja auringonpaisteesta. Edes haiden mahdollinen lasnaolo ei haitannut oloa. Yorke Peninsula on yksi hai-vilkkaimmista alueista koko maailmassa! Enpa nahnyt yhtaan hai-kalaa koko reissulla..

Unlike in the touristy Gold Coast ("surfers paradise beach"), it was just me and Andrew enjoying the landscape most of the time. Notice: No footsteps in these pictures!
